At the heart of the work I do,
is to work with heart.

Our stories matter, so the way that we tell our stories matter. That is why I’ve focused on working with mission-driven organizations like Silicon Valley’s Fistula Foundation and Spokane’s PBS affiliate, KSPS – organizations that actively, positively impact their communities.

In addition to my  career in marketing, photography, and videography, I run my own creative brand called The Velvet Moth. Through this brand, my mission is to build an online space to collect, connect, and create. I express myself through a Substack newsletter exploring the art of creative living, curate and sell vintage goods, and design a line of one-of-a-kind wall clocks made from vinyl records.

How It All Started

When I was ten years old, I saved up my allowance and won an Ebay auction for a simple film camera, a bag, and a few tapes. That twenty-five dollars was the first investment I made for my future, igniting a passion that shaped my life path.

I’d always been drawn to the arts — first dance, then theatre, then choir. Those were the things I thought defined my passions. But at home, I spent my free time directing little movies with that old eBay film camera. I didn’t think of it as a craft or lifestyle like dance or theatre — I was just having fun. It wasn’t until my final year of high school, when I took a video production class to fill a gap in my schedule, that I realized filmmaking was something deeper. That year, in that classroom, something clicked.

Working with a small crew to build a story from scratch made me feel alive. We dreamed together, turned vision into action, and built entire worlds. I fell in love with collaborative storytelling — the way it blends technology, psychology, and artistry. Editing footage and pairing it with music to evoke emotion felt like solving a beautiful puzzle that spoke through me effortlessly. Everything flowed.

But more than that, that class taught me the power of film: its ability to move people, open hearts, and shift perspectives. Movies can make a real difference in the world. I saw it, I felt it — and I realized I was good at it. But I was only just getting started.

Since then, my journey has been filled
with unforgettable highlights.

Among them:

Winning an award for my debut film, "I Agree With Jennifer" (2012), which shone a light on Elm Street Mission -- a shelter for the unhoused in Santa Cruz, CA.

Traveling across the world for documentaries! To France to photograph a wedding, Nepal to interview women battling obstetric fistula and the doctors who are treating them, and Kenya to photograph the healthcare workers building a network of care for women with childbirth injuries.

Working as a video editor and cinematographer for Cinequest, a Silicon Valley film festival, and capturing promotional content of Nicholas Cage and William H. Macey.

Directing the short film, "Facing Fistula" (2022), which took two years of collaboration with a small documentary crew working internationally in Kenya and the United States.

Managing the KSPS PBS Media Makers Program and working with the next generation of storytellers to craft meaningful films, build their production experience, and contribute to PBS' programs.

Where I Am Now

In my current role, I manage an educational video production program at KSPS PBS. I am honored to lead a talented group of dedicated students through their first paid experience as video producers. I shape their curriculum with the goal of building diverse portfolios, learning storytelling techniques, and also gaining creative confidence.

While I have loved every step of this journey into leadership, and am grateful for how it has stretched me, my contract with this role is now ending. Though I will fondly remember this opportunity and miss it dearly, if life has taught me anything, it is that embracing change can lead to powerful opportunities.

So, I look forward to stepping up into a new role — hopefully in marketing, communications, or creative directing in a space that uplifts communities and makes a positive impact.
